Daily skin routine - Tips and advise

Hi fellas,

We all know that cleaning our face is important. Yet we get confused most of the time when it comes to our skin care routine.
So here is step by step guide to your daily skin care:
  1. Know your skin type:  First know your skin type and then buy the products.

source : Skin types

  •   Normal (Not too dry or oily. smooth)
  •   Oliy (easy to find out, shiny skin with large pores)
  •   Dry: (seems rough and bumpy and tight)
  •   Combination:(oily + normal, oily at T-zone i.e nose,chin & forehead area)
  •   Sensitive:(burns easily, have reactions to certain cosmetics, difficult to handle)
So first know your skin type and then buy the products accordingly. :)

    2. Cleanser: It is the first step, Buy a good cleanser according to your skin type. apply good amount of cleanser on your face and massage for at least 2 minutes. then remove it either by damp cotton or with warm water.

- Normal/combination skin:  Use foam or cream cleanser like Garnier pure active, Neutrogena deep clean

- Dry skin: use cream cleanser line Nivea cleansing milk, Himalaya cleansing milk.

-Oily skin: Use Gel cleanser like Himalaya gel face wash , lotus tea tree wash, Neutrogena acne wash.
source: cleanser

   3. Toner: After few minutes, Tone your face with good toner using a cotton pad, do not rinse off. Most people try to avoid this step but I think You should not skip it as toner helps in restoring your skin's PH and tone your skin and also kills bacteria

 - Normal/combination: Use Alcohol-free toner like Garnier fresh essentials, Himalaya clarifying tone.

-Dry skin: Moisturiser kind of toner like biotique cucumber water toner, the body shop vitamin ehydrating toner.

 - Oily skin: use astringents with ingredients like alcohol, witch hazel or acids like kaya purifying toner, lotus basiltone.
source: Toner

  4. Moisturiser: Apply moisturiser according to your skin type. there are lots of moisturiser available and if you live in hot region, you should buy the moisturiser with good SPF. it will protect you from sun tan or burn.

- Normal/combination: Use cream based moisturiser like Nivea creme, Lacto calamine

- Dry skin: Use moisturiser rich in essential oils to soothe and revive skin like Nivea soft moisturising cream, lotus wheatnourish.

 - Oily skin: Use gel based moisturiser   like Lacto calamine oily to normal.
Source: Moisturiser

Some Extra care:

  • Exfoliate: Exfoliate you face once or twice a week with a good exfoliating face wash. It removes dead cells, reduce acne and gives you smooth skin.
                    - Rinse your face with warm water, gently use exfoliating face wash on your face and massage for half minute, Don't scrub too hard ,remove it with damp cotton.

[Review] RIMMEL STAY MATTE PRESSED POWDER- 006 WARM BEIGE

hey loveliez,

Compact powder is a very essential part of our makeup kit, specially when you have oily skin. so today I am gonna review Rimmel stay matte pressed powder shade 006. It's a matte compact powder used mainly to get rid of oily and shiny patches on the skin. I have oily skin, so I bought this couple of days back. Read on to know whether it is good or not...

Brand:    Rimmel London

Product: Stay matte pressed powder

Shade:    Warm Beige(006)

Description on website: Up to 5 hours natural shine control with natural minerals. Helps minimise the appearance of pores.

Packaging: Well there is nothing much to talk about, it is a very simple packaging, comes in a hard plastic container with transparent plastic or acrylic lid. so it is a very handy compact, you can put it anywhere but doesn't have any mirror or powder puff.

My Views: I really do like the product. it says that it lasts upto 5 hours with matte finish and yup it's true. I have oily skin and I know how it feels when you see your face shiny and oily. But when I apply it on my face, it gives me a matte finish look for atleast 5 hours. It controls my shine and gives a natural glow. So a big thumbs up for this because i got really tired of my oily face and was looking for a good compact and now I found it. :)
There a some drawbacks also. its lid is not tight so it's difficult to
carry in a purse. It does not have any puff or mirror. so you have to carry a separate brush or something to apply it and a mirror.
But otherwise the main product is very good and specially if you have an oily or combination skin. you will be amazed how great your skin will look. Other shades are also available in the market so you can choose according to your skin tone.

Pros:

  1. Smells good.
  2. Provide matte finish for atleast 5 hours.
  3. Gives you a natural glow
  4. Lots of shades to choose
  5. Handy product, easy to carry
  6. Good pigmentation
Cons:

  1. Very loose lid
  2. No mirror
  3. No puff

see you next time byee!! :)

[Review]Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet - Ole Flamingo(05)

Bourjois rouge edition velvet- ole flamingo
Hey  lovelyzz,
Today is a great day coz, here it’s sunshine. So basically a nice and warm day. Perfect for shopping J.
Shopping reminds me of my latest purchase,  Bourjois rouge edition velvet- ole flamingo(05)
It’s a bright gorgeous fuchsia pink  liquid matte finish lipstick by bourjois. And today I’m gonna review this product. so here it is…J

Brand:  Bourjois
Product:  Rouge edition velvet
Shade:  05 Ole flamingo
Texture: Liquid lipstick
Description on website:  Rouge Edition Velvet by Bourjois is the new era of lipsticks. An amazing, irresistible formula.  Its soft, melting texture glides on to the lips and turns into a matt, velvety and incredibly light colour. Lips are left smooth and soft as velvet.
Enriched with evanescent oils, it’s incredibly sensuous formula provides a soft, second-skin feel, without drying or fading lips.

Here are the swatches :

Packaging: These liquid lipsticks/glosses/stains (whatever you like to sayJ) comes in a glass bottle as you can see above. The size is about same as of a lipstick and it has a dome applicator to apply it on lips. It’s transparent  so you can see the actual colour of lipstick. So in short , packaging is pretty nice and easy to carry around. J

My Views:

Well I am in love with this lipstick the minute I saw it in store . From the packaging to its colour to its texture.

Smell: It's pretty opaque on you lips from the very first stroke and gives you a gorgeous matte finish. It has a plastic smell. But that disappears soon. So it should not be a problem unless you are super sensitive towards smell

Texture: The liquid inside is kind of a whipped cream, very soft and creamy and On the lips, it feels like a non-sticky moisturiser.  It is also very light weight, doesn’t feel like you have something on your lips. And even after many hours your lips don't feel dry.

Because it’s a liquid plus kind of a lip stain so you have to apply it carefully because once you’ve finished applying, it will set on your lips and won’t come out. And  after sometime it leaves a beautiful fuscia pink matte stain.

Lasting power: On bourjois website, they claim that it lasts for 24 hrs. Well it's definitely true. it does last like forever. So you need a good makeup remover to wear it off. So it’s a good thing ladies J but ya it is not completely smudge proof .It transfers a little. but otherwise it is awesome.

Pros:
  • ·         Great colours
  • ·         Very pigmented
  • ·         Lightweight
  • ·         Creamy texture
  • ·         Lasts so long
  • ·         Matte finish
  • ·         Stains the lips
  • ·         Beautiful packaging
  • ·         Moisturise your lips

Cons:
  • ·         Little expensive
  • ·         Not completely smudge proof
  • ·         Plastic smell for some minute

price - 900/- (approx.)

Hearts: ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥(10/10) woww!!(i'm definitely gonna buy other shades as well)

Winter Skincare Tips and Home remedies for Dry skin

For many people, the cold clear days of winter bring more than just a rosy glow to the cheeks. They also bring uncomfortable dryness to the skin of the face.
you should always protect your skin and supply it with beneficial ingredients to keep it healthy year-round.

So here are some Tips and home remedy ideas  to protect your skin this winter:
  • DRY SKIN: Depending on how dry your skin becomes, you may need a more emollient moisturizer. Any moisturizer should be loaded with ingredients that help keep moisture in your skin:
    • Glycerin, Ceramides, fatty acids, hyaluronic acid

There are many lotions and moisturizers on the market to combat dry skin. But most of them come with a big price tag. Natural home remedies are not only cheap, but also quite effective in nourishing and hydrating dry skin back to a healthy state.

  • 1. Olive Oil

Olive oil contains many antioxidants and healthy fatty acids that are good for your skin. It can soothe  dry skin all over your body.
    • Dab a thin layer of extra virgin olive oil under your regular moisturizer.
    • About a half an hour before taking a shower, rub some olive oil on your hands, legs and other areas with dry skin and massage lightly. Take a shower and then apply a light moisturizer.
    • Mix equal amounts of olive oil and fine brown sugar. Rub this homemade scrub on your dry skin using light, circular motions for a few minutes. Take a shower and then apply a light moisturizer.

    2. Milk Cream

The lactic acid present in milk cream helps exfoliate dry skin. The soothing nature of milk cream also helps preserve the skin’s delicate pH levels. Milk cream is also an excellent moisturizer.
    • Mix a few drops of lemon juice, one teaspoon of milk and two teaspoons of milk cream. Rub it on your hands and legs. Leave it on for a while before you take a shower. Do this once daily.
    • Add enough milk cream to three to four tablespoons of gram flour to make a thick paste. Apply the paste on your face, hands and legs. Leave it on for 15 minutes and then rinse it off with lukewarm water. Do this once daily.

    3. Milk

Milk has anti-inflammatory and soothing properties that greatly help get rid of dry and itchy skin. Plus, the lactic acid in milk exfoliates dead skin cells and increases the skin’s ability to retain moisture. Also, it helps lighten your complexion.
    • Soak a washcloth in cold milk and put the cloth on your dry skin for five to seven minutes. Gently wash off the milk with another cloth soaked in lukewarm water. This way this natural moisturizer will remain on your skin. Do this every other day.
    • Add a few drops of rose water and lemon juice to four tablespoons of milk. Rub this solution all over your body. Leave it on for 10 minutes and wash your body with cold water. Follow this remedy twice daily.

    4. Honey

Honey is considered one of the best natural moisturizers loaded with antioxidant, antimicrobial, and humectant properties. Thus, it helps lock in moisture to make your skin extra soft and smooth. Plus, honey has many essential vitamins and minerals that help improve your skin’s health.
    • Before taking a bath or shower, rub honey all over your body and leave it on for five to 10 minutes. Repeat daily to enjoy well-moisturized skin.
    • Measure out equal parts of unprocessed honey, beeswax, and olive oil. Melt the beeswax in a small pan over low heat. Remove it from the heat and mix in the honey and then the olive oil. Apply this mixture all over your body and leave it on for 10 minutes. Then take a shower. Repeat daily or every other day.

    5. Yogurt

Yogurt is an excellent skin-hydrating agent. Plus, its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties help soothe dry and itchy skin. Also, its lactic acid content helps get rid of any germs or bacteria that may cause dryness or itchiness.
    • Apply fresh yogurt on your hands, face and legs and gently massaging it into your skin. Leave it on for 10 minutes and then take a bath or shower. The mild exfoliating action of yogurt will remove dry skin and leave your skin refreshed. Do this once daily.
    • Mix one-half cup of yogurt and three tablespoons of mashed papaya. Stir in a few drops each of honey and lemon juice. Apply it on your skin and leave it on for 10 minutes before washing it off with cold water. Do this once a week.

    6. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is really good for treating dry skin. It has a good amount of fatty acids that make up for any loss of moisture from the skin.
    • Liberally apply warm coconut oil all over your body before going to sleep. Wash it off in the morning. Do this daily to make your skin soft and smooth.
    • Apply coconut oil on your dry skin after you take a bath or shower. When the skin is warm and supple from your bath, coconut oil is more readily absorbed. Do this daily.

    Oatmeal

    oatmeal
You can also use oatmeal to moisturize and relieve dry skin. The high protein content in oatmeal leaves a protective barrier on the skin, which prevents water loss and helps maintain moisture. Plus, it has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that are good for the overall health of your skin.
    • Pour one cup of plain oatmeal into your bathtub filled with warm water. Add a few drops of lavender oil. Soak in the bath water for 15 to 30 minutes. Enjoy this soothing bath once a week.
    • Make a face mask by mixing one mashed ripe banana with one cup of ground oatmeal and then adding a little bit of lukewarm milk. Apply this smooth mixture on your dry skin and leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes. Rinse it off with cold water. Use this face mask once a week.

      Almond Oil

      almond oil
Almond oil is an excellent source of vitamin E and, hence, is considered the best emollient and lubricator for dry skin. Also, its antioxidant property is good for your skin’s overall health. In addition, because this oil is non-greasy, it is easily absorbed in the skin.
      • Gently warm up some pure almond oil. Massage your body lightly with the warm oil a half an hour before taking a shower. After your shower when your skin is still damp, apply some light moisturizer. Do this once daily.
      • Drink a glass of warm milk mixed with one teaspoon of almond oil before going to bed. Repeat every night to enjoy healthier skin as well as sound sleep.
Note: Those who are allergic to almonds must not use the almond oil remedies.

      10. Aloe Vera

      aloe vera gel

Aloe vera has soothing, antiseptic and antifungal properties that can help combat dry, irritated skin and prevent flaking. This simple remedy will moisturize your skin and form a protective layer that will keep your skin free from any kind of impurities.
      1. Cut open a fresh aloe vera leaf and squeeze the gel out of it.
      2. Apply the gel on your dry skin. Sit for 10 to 15 minutes.
      3. Rinse it off with lukewarm water.
      4. Do this twice daily.
Try these easy remedies to relieve the discomfort that comes from dry skin and restore its natural soft, smooth texture. :)
